For all those with XL-sized families, Nissan has launched the Urvan Estate, positioned to be at the top of the local luxury van market.  Universal Motors Corporation, exclusive Philippine assembler and distributor of Nissan light commercial and recreational vehicles, has wrought numerous changes to the Urvan.

The major improvements of the Urvan Estate are in the areas of:

-Safety : improved by adding a crumple zone at the vehicle’s nose.  This will help absorb a crash impact.  An additional passive safety feature is the presence of side impact beams.  As for active safety, the headlamps now offer better illumination and the brakes have also been enlarged for better stopping capability.

-Interior: Three abreast seating in front, plus seven airline-type seats and two jump seats in the rear, with some space left over for luggage.  The driver’s seat is reportedly designed to reduce driver fatigue.  The dashboard and center console have also been redesigned to provide numerous cubbyholes, drink and document holders.

-Performance:  The 3.0 liter diesel pumps out 105 ps at 3800 rpm, and 209 Nm at 2000 rpm.  This is the Nissan Patrol engine, sans turbocharger.

-Durability-Body construction has been improved, and fittings have been repositioned to reduce probability that they’ll be worn out by contact with luggage and people.

Of course, a dual aircon system is standard, with individual aircon vents for each passenger up to the back row.

The Urvan Estate is now available at Nissan dealers.
