Nissan Motors Japan will officially launch
the Nissan Fairlady Z (350Z for the rest of the world) in August of
2002. The changes with the production model and the concept car introduced last October at the Tokyo Motor Show are minimal. It comes with the same 225/45 ZR18 tires up front and 245/55 ZR18 tires at the back. The styling of the alloys have been changed though, no doubt in an attempt to reduce the purchase price of the new car. In Japan, the bottom-end Fairlady will get 215/50 R18 tires. High-performance Brembo brakes will be standard for the mid and high-range models. Inside, the interior has been heavily changed from the concept car, however the trademark three gauge cluster located on the center console have been retained. The aluminum trim on the center console has also been retained from the concept car. At the get go, the Nissan Fairlady Z will have a 6-speed manual as standard, but now, Nissan will make available a 5-speed automatic. Expected prices for the new Fairlady Z will fetch US$ 26,269-34,079.
