Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP)
continues to lead the automotive industry sales for the year by
registering the highest sales output for the month of February with a
total of 1,782 vehicles sold, based on the latest sales figures reported
to the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers, Inc. (CAMPI). Bolstered by
the success of its customer financing promo, Toyota reported brisk sales
of its passenger car and commercial vehicle models particularly the
Corolla Altis and the Tamaraw FX Revo which both topped the sales in
their respective category. Mitsubishi Motors Philippines on the other
hand, had the second highest sales last month with total sales of 1,317
units while Isuzu Philippines Corporation registered the third highest
output with their reported sales of 754 units. Year-to-date figures also show Toyota leading the way in total industry sales. For the first two months of the year, Toyota reported sales of 3,391 units, a slight 5 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Mitsubishi Motors' output for the year has reached 2,461 units which is good for second place while Honda Cars has sold a total of 1,522 units for the year. Looking on the per segment performance based on CAMPI figures, Toyota led the way in the passenger car (PC) segment with total sales of 614units for the month of February. Toyota's resurgence in the passenger car segment is largely attributed to the strong performance of the Corolla Altis which experienced a 65 percent growth compared to year ago levels. In close second in the PC segment is Honda, which tallied a total of 603 units sold. Rounding out the top three is Nissan Motor Phil. Inc with 124 units sold, indicating a 52 percent decline compared to the same period last year despite a new model introduction in June last year. Total passenger car sales figures show Honda in the top spot with year to date sales of 1,303 units. Toyota continues to be hot on the rail of Honda with 1,273 units sold with just 30 units separating the top two. On the other hand, Mitsubishi eclipses Nissan for the third spot with sales of 287 units from January to February. In the very competitive commercial vehicle (CV) segment, Mitsubishi leads the pack with sales of 1,200 units last month cornering 29 percent of the market. Toyota is in second place with 1,168 units translating to 28 percent of the total commercial vehicles sold. Isuzu comes in third with sales of 754 units garnering 17 percent of the market. The same holds true for the year to date figures with Mitsubishi reporting sales of 2,174 units for the year while Toyota posted sales of 2,118 for second place. Isuzu was able to sell 1,349 units to land on the third spot. Toyota's very popular Revo model line continues to lord it over in the Asian utility vehicle (AUV) category with 956 units sold giving it a 44 percent share of the total AUV market. Mitsubishi's Adventure meanwhile registered sales of 643 units, good enough for a 29 percent of the market pie. In third place is the Isuzu Crosswind, which tallied sales figures of 443 units sold for February. The same story goes for year to date figure with the Toyota Revo leading with sales of 1,640 units as compared to the second placer Mitsubishi Adventure with 1,226 units. The Isuzu Crosswind holds on to the third spot with 719 units sold for the first two months of the year. |
