Italian car designer, Pininfarina has unveiled two new concept cars for the Chinese market. Best known for their work with the likes of Ferrari, the Italian design studio has come up with designs for Hafei, a Chinese company. The two new cars, dubbed HF Lobo and HF Fantasy are on display at the Beijing Motor Show.

The Lobo is a compact hatchback that is similar in size to the Volkswagen Polo, Peugeot 106 and Fiat Punto. It is scheduled for production later this year. The Lobo is actually a five-door, five seater hatchback with a 1.0-liter four cylinder engine that develops 47 bhp driving the front wheels.

Projected at an initial run of 100,000 units, the Lobo is to be sold in mainland China only. The HF Lobo's dimensions are 3587 mm long, 1564 mm wide and 1527 mm high. It sits on a wheelbase of 2335 mm.

The second car that was unveiled is a sporty four-seater coupe called the HF Fantasy. It comes complete with gullwing doors! It is just meant as a concept and no plans for production have been made yet.

The team-up with Hafei and Pininfarina has started since 1996, where the Italian designer was the first to design and engineer cars solely with a Chinese carmaker. Their first design was the Hafei Songhuajiang Zhongyi, a minivan that debuted in the 1999 Beijing Motor Show. Since then, it was shown at the 2000 Geneva Motorshow under the Pininfarina stand. The car is now being built at a rate of 100,000 units per year.
