In a surprising move, Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMPC) has launched a more affordable variant of their stylish RAV4 soft-roader vehicle. Dubbed 1.8 SV, this version of the RAV4 comes as a front-wheel driver. Power comes from the Corolla Altis' 1.8-liter VVTi 16-valve inline-4 engine. Despite being 200 cc less in capacity compared to its bigger brother, the 1.8 SV doesn't lose as much since it still has 145 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 188 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm (in comparison, the 2.0-liter engine generates 148 bhp and 192 Nm). The 1.8 SV comes standard with newly designed 16-inch alloys covered by 215 / 70 R 16 tires. Front fog lamps, rear fog lamps, a rear wiper and washer system and a body-colored hard spare tire cover round up the appearance package. The 4x2 version of the RAV4 comes with dual SRS airbags and four-wheel disc brakes as standard. Transmission is only available as a 5-speed manual. Inside, the 1.8 SV comes with all power features, a single DIN Kenwood stereo with in-dash CD player and keyless entry. Retail price of the 1.8 SV is a surprisingly low P 960,000. The RAV4 4x4 is still being sold at its old price of P 1,350,000. For the complete specifications of the Toyota RAV4 1.8 SV, click here. |
