Isuzu Philippines Corporation continues to impress its customers as it freshens up the tried-and-tested Crosswind AUV for 2008. A perennial favorite among hardworking entrepreneurs and Overseas Filipino Workers who have large families to transport in comfort, the Crosswind soldiers on for the 2008 model year with a new ‘understated elegance’ interior design. This gives the people’s favorite choice in the AUV segment a fresh SUV-like appearance, perfectly complementing a host of new features in the exterior. Up front, the addition of chrome finish on the center billet grille is instantly recognizable, and adds elegance to the Crosswind’s face. The roof now features new-design roof rails for better aerodynamics and functionality. At the back, the 2008 Crosswind receives a new-design spare tire cover as well as a new-design spear-like rear spoiler with third-brake lamp. The rear combination lamps with chrome garnish now also boast a darker red shade for more visibility and safety. New exterior features are highlighted by new body colors: mercury silver and light blue metallic for the XT; mercury silver and onyx black for the XTi; onyx black and light blue metallic for the XUV; and onyx black, canyon red and infinite gold for the Sportivo. The new features on the 2008 Crosswind abound inside. For starters, the steering wheel now has buttons for safely and conveniently controlling the DVD/CD/MP3 audio system that features a 3.5-inch LCD monitor for the backup camera. The interior also showcases a new two-tone black-and-beige motif. The seven-inch wide-screen monitor has a new beige frame. Beige carries over to the seat material, a combination of vinyl and perforated leather. The Sportivo variant has a special logo stitching on the headrests. The door trims are of a new design, featuring a black vinyl center accent for the new-design tweeters and door lamps. The 2008 Crosswind is powered by the proven 2.5-liter turbo direct-injection 4JA1-L diesel engine. This fuel-efficient powerplant is already Euro 2-compliant, ensuring minimum impact to environment during operation. The warranty for the 2008 Crosswind variants is up to three years or 100,000 kilometers—which whichever comes first For the first three months after introduction, the prices for the 2008 Crosswind shall be the same as those for the previous models. Hence, the 2008 Crosswind will initially sell for P759,000 (M/T) for the XL; P840,000 (M/T) for the XT; P899,000 (M/T) for the XTi; P979,000 (M/T) and P1,039,000 (A/T) for the XUV; and P1,070,000 (M/T) and P1,135,000 (A/T) for the Sportivo. “The Crosswind has been a strong-selling vehicle for Isuzu since its introduction in June 2001,” says IPC president Keiji Takeda. “From January to December last year, it averaged a monthly sales total of 448 units, which translated to an almost 20-percent share of the AUV market. With the launch of the updated 2008 Crosswind, we are confident we will further improve on this robust sales performance.” Believe it: The 2008 Isuzu Crosswind is better than ever.
