Steering column mounts on top of the fuel tank, and is directly connected to the wheels.  No power assisted necessary, although you’ll need strong hands to last a race distance.

Single brake disc on the rear axle is all you need for brick-wall braking.

Karts may look like playthings, but they’re actually serious racing machines.

Engine drives rear wheels directly, via chain drive.  Two-stroke 100 cc engine revs to 18,000 rpm. 

Karts can also be equipped with ABS.  That’s the silver box connected with hoses to the brake disc.

For the serious kart racers, the electronic timing gear can be quite sophisticated, giving them accurate measurement of their progress.
