| This year's Motorshow Manila was different from past Philippine
motorshows: new cars were conspicuously absent from the show! We're not sure if this was intentional or
not. After
all, the Motorshow poster was a collage of parts of different cars.
What this Motorshow did have was trucks...lots of them. From the Hummer clones from M.D. JeepStar to the muscular new Ford Explorer Sport Trac, trucks dominated the event. Doesn't anyone want a car anymore? Blame it on Manila's floods and potholes; everyone's dream car is an off-roader. We wish that major players like Toyota and Honda would use motorshow venues to introduce their new models like the upcoming Corolla and Civic. Concept cars slated for possible future production would be even better. Meanwhile, send in the trucks! |

| Ford brought the great outdoors into the Motorshow to showcase its expansive line of trucks, from the massive F150 to the controversial Ranger to the new four-door Explorer Sport Trac pickup. | Not to be outdone, Isuzu also came with all guns blazing. Its main weapons bore the names Trooper, Fuego and Highlander. The 2001 Trooper features an all-new DOHC diesel and luxurious leather interior. |
