The Mazda2 sedan offers 450 liters (VDA
measurements) of luggage space, enough for around two 9-inch golf bags.
The seats can also be folded with a 60/40 split for even more room.
The Mazda2 also features a magazine
rack inside the glove box as well as a handbag tray between the front
seats. An auxiliary jack is also standard. An advanced
keyless entry and engine start/stop system is also fitted in some
models. In Japan, the Mazda2's climate control system is equipped
with a particulate filter called "Allergy-buster". A light
catalyzed deodorizer in the cabin ceiling and non-absorbent fabric is
standard on most models.
For the safety conscious, the Mazda2
comes equipped with the usual myriad of modern safety equipment.
Dual SRS airbags are standard while some models are equipped with
four-wheel anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution.
Side impact airbags and curtain airbags are also available as options.
Though there's still no news whether
we'd see the Mazda2 here in the Philippines, there are some promising
signs: AutoAlliance Thailand, the plant that manufactures the Ford
Everest and Ranger has just announced an expansion to build a compact
car for the ASEAN market. We certainly hope it's this one.
